First things first
As you probably know we launched our first indie title a few months ago, but things didn’t work as planned. We were a bit bummed about the outcome of our first title, but we decided to take a few weeks off to clear our heads.
Once we got back, we started analyzing what we did and what went wrong and found out that there were many things we did wrong. Most of the successful indie developers will tell you that your first title will flop. Which happened to us too, but we decided to get back on the horse and continue. We are not going down without a fight…
What we did next
After a few weeks of brainstorming and discussions we decided that we should approach the 3D sector of indie gaming. Frankly, we wanted to build our first game in a more complex engine, but I think we were a bit too scared of all the new information coming with an engine like Unity or Unreal Engine.
So, for our second game we thought that Unity would be the best choice for us. The second thing we had to agree upon was what framework to use, because there is no point in reinventing the wheel when there are already cars out there… (I know a lot of people don’t agree with the use of frameworks because they feel that the engine / framework does everything for you, but I can assure you that it is not the case. We learned that now too 🙂
About our new title
Our second title is a 3D First Person Horror game. We wanted to build something that would really transfer the emotions and the adrenaline of the events to the player.
This brought us to our next question:
“OK, but how do we do that?”
This is when we started thinking about the games we played, what we liked more about them and which features and events meant the most to us. For example, I am the type of gamer that cannot play certain types of horror games. Although I know there are jumpscares, it’s not the actual jumpscare that frightens me, but the anticipation of when that moment.
That is one example of emotions and adrenaline being transmitted to the player in a good way. Although our game is not a horror one, it has suspense and thrilling elements that we want our players to experience first hand by using the first person camera.

Our first screenshots of Gray Destiny feature some scenes in which the beginning of the game takes place. Here are the latest 3 scenes that we have been working on for the past weeks. These are still in development, but you can make an idea of what they will look like in the end.
